Ron Burton becomes the first draft choice of the Boston Patriots.

A running back from Northwestern university, Burton has a successful career on the field, but distinguishes himself even more off the field through his work with Boston area young people. He opens the Ron Burton Training Village, a summer camp for young people, in 1985, a camp that has since served more than 4,000 inner-city kids and continues today.
